I am a citizen of the Métis Nation of British Columbia.

I am Red River Michif with ancestral ties to the Saskatchewan River District, Turtle Mountains, and Red River.

Although I was born Michif, I became a citizen of the Métis Nation of British Columbia and member of the Chartered Métis Community of Waceya in 2006.

My traditional Michif family names are: Bear, Thorpe, Schindler, and Lenoir.

I have spoken about my identity at the Métis Speaker Series and in publications.
